COVID-19/ CORONA VIRUS IN THE NETHERLANDS
The corona virus has also spread to The Netherlands. Find the latest covid-19 measurements in The Netherlands below.
NEW UPDATE (23rd of March 2022)
There are no general rules inside The Netherlands anymore. No need to wear a face mask anywhere, to have a negative test to travel into the country (if you’re from the EU/ Schengen region), to get tested to visit festivals, etc. Restaurants, clubs, etc. are all opened as late as usual. I can now only say one thing: Have fun.
You should still be aware of extra rules the EU has when it comes to travelling to the European Union from a country that is outside of the Schengen region, I would recommend you to check out the government of The Netherlands website for that.
If you want to immediately have updates on when new or less restrictions happen, I would recommend you to join my private The Netherlands travel Facebook group.
I hope my The Netherlands travel blog will inspire you for your trips to The Netherlands. Discover beautiful towns and cities in The Netherlands and dream away. Stay safe and follow the rules of wherever you might be. Hopefully you’re able to travel to The Netherlands soon.

About 'Visiting The Dutch Countryside'
This is me. Manon.
I am the creative behind ‘Visiting The Dutch Countryside’, a travel blog about The Netherlands created by a born and raised Dutch citizen. I’ve been living 27 years in a country that has so much to offer, yet many foreign visitors don’t see the beauty. And that’s what I’m about to change with this travel blog about The Netherlands. Do you want to know more about my story? Have a look at that here.
The Netherlands is a country that is underrated in its whole. You have heard about The Netherlands and visited Amsterdam. That’s why you think you know The Netherlands. But no capital city is like the rest of the country. That’s like saying Washington D.C. is the representation of the U.S.A or that Jakarta is the representation of Indonesia. So, do you know The Netherlands?
Probably not. But we can fix this. If you are using my website, you will be guided through the less visited places of The Netherlands. Now you can enjoy The Netherlands like the locals do. One extra tip: Don’t call The Netherlands Holland.
Holland is a combination of the two provinces of Noord- Holland & Zuid- Holland. The Netherlands has twelve provinces in total and they don’t appreciate it when you call them as a part of Holland. The provinces in The Netherlands are: Utrecht, Gelderland, Noord- Brabant, Drenthe, Groningen, Friesland, Overijssel, Limburg, Flevoland, Zeeland, Noord- Holland and Zuid-Holland.
I have visited most of the places that you will find on my The Netherlands travel blog and guide with the use of public transport and/or bike. There are a few places that have no public transport available, but this is something that very rarely happens. So are you thinking of using public transport in The Netherlands? Please do so. It’s easy, saves you parking fees, gasoline and good for the environment.
I hope you all enjoy this travel blog about The Netherlands by a local. You can click through any photo in order to get to the pages and articles you are looking for. Use the navigation at the top of the website to get to the page you want. For all the provinces click here, if you want to see all the articles written so far, have a look here. Or scroll down to see more most read articles and new articles.
If you have any questions I am always happy to answer them. Go to my contact information right here.
And, if you ever click links on my website that don’t show a website that is correct with the information I gave, please tell me in which article you’ve found it: Sometimes, companies that I’ve used and recommend change their website address, and such.
To keep you inspired to travel to The Netherlands I’m constantly writing new articles and publishing new videos on Youtube.
You will be able to see more photos and behind the scenes of beautiful places in The Netherlands on my Instagram. On my TikTok (@visitingthedutchcountryside) you will be discovering more cool places in The Netherlands.
