July is Gelderland month on Visiting The Dutch Countryside

To keep you inspired to travel to The Netherlands I’ll be bringing twelve special months to you. Travelling is not the way it was and will not be the same for a while. That’s why you will love these months.

The Netherlands is home to twelve provinces and all of them are special in their own way. So, I will be dedicating twelve months to the twelve different provinces in The Netherlands. Every province gets its own month. I will be writing and publishing all places that I’ve visited so far in that specific province in that month. From incredible Dutch castles to fantastic Dutch beaches. And from beautiful fortified towns in The Netherlands to spectacular Dutch islands.

From the 1st of July until the 31st of July it’s time for the province of Gelderland to shine. It’s home to the most beautiful Dutch villages in The Netherlands, incredible castles and some of the most special National Parks in The Netherlands. And you will be enjoying everything that this Dutch province in the centre of The Netherlands has to offer starting this upcoming July.

And, of course, you can also read everything after July is finished. Because all the articles about places and destinations to visit in Gelderland will be published on my website and aren’t going anywhere after this month.

You will be able to see more photos and behind the scenes of these places on my Instagram. There will be facts, my thoughts, photos and interesting videos on my Twitter. Plus, on my Youtube channel you are able to find more information about The Netherlands as well. On my TikTok (@visitingthedutchcountry) you will be able to learn some interesting Dutch words, sayings, inventions and discover cool places in The Netherlands.

Oh and last, but certainly not least, subscribe to my email list for more tips, tricks and places to visit in The Netherlands that won’t be making its way to this website. Scroll down more to find my latest articles, videos, most read articles and more!

About 'Visiting The Dutch Countryside'

Manon - About Me - Visiting The Dutch Countryside - www.visitingthedutchcountryside.com - Explore The Netherlands Beyond The Crowds

This is me. Manon.

I am the creative behind ‘Visiting The Dutch Countryside’, a travel blog about The Netherlands created by a born and raised Dutch citizen. I’ve been living 25 years in a country that has so much to offer, yet many foreign visitors don’t see the beauty. And that’s what I’m about to change with this travel blog about The Netherlands. Do you want to know more about my story? Have a look at that here.

The Netherlands is a country that is underrated in its whole. You have heard about The Netherlands and visited Amsterdam. That’s why you think you know The Netherlands. But no capital city is like the rest of the country. That’s like saying Washington D.C. is the representation of the U.S.A or that Jakarta is the representation of Indonesia. So, do you know The Netherlands?

Probably not. But we can fix this. If you are using my website, you will be guided through the less visited places of The Netherlands. Now you can enjoy The Netherlands like the locals do. One extra tip: Don’t call The Netherlands Holland.

Holland is a combination of the two provinces of Noord- Holland & Zuid- Holland. The Netherlands has twelve provinces in total and they don’t appreciate it when you call them as a part of Holland. The provinces in The Netherlands are: Utrecht, Gelderland, Noord- Brabant, Drenthe, Groningen, Friesland, Overijssel, Limburg, Flevoland, Zeeland, Noord- Holland and Zuid-Holland.

I have visited most of the places that you will find on my The Netherlands travel blog and guide with the use of public transport and/or bike. There are a few places that have no public transport available, but this is something that very rarely happens. So are you thinking of using public transport in The Netherlands? Please do so. It’s easy, saves you parking fees, gasoline and good for the environment.

I hope you all enjoy this travel blog about The Netherlands by a local. You can click through any photo in order to get to the pages and articles you are looking for. Use the navigation at the top of the website to get to the page you want. For all the provinces click here, if you want to see all the articles written so far, have a look here.
