Every season in The Netherlands has its charm, and autumn (or fall for my US American friends) is no different. Autumn is a beautiful season in The Netherlands. You can explore the most beautiful nature reserves, Dutch castles, and picturesque towns and enjoy the beginning of an entire season of some of my favourite Dutch traditions: From Sint Maarten to ‘uitwaaien’.
Autumn is also when it gets darker and cosier in The Netherlands. Sit back and relax with a cup of tea and a Dutch apple pie in front of a fireplace, head to one of the many ice rinks in The Netherlands or enjoy the lit-up historic cities.
But it gets better. Because autumn in The Netherlands is not part of any high season, and this means that many places in The Netherlands get fewer visitors during this time of year. Imagine picturesque alleyways in Dutch towns entirely for yourself.
There are plenty of things to do in autumn in The Netherlands and Dutch autumn traditions that I’m sure you will love to see and explore. Happy travels!
