The most famous province of The Netherlands is Noord- Holland, North Holland in English. Noord- Holland is also the province that also houses Amsterdam. While Amsterdam is the capital of The Netherlands, the capital of Noord- Holland is Haarlem.
Noord-Holland is mostly known for it’s beautiful, long beaches and tulipfields. But also for the Wadden Island of Texel and old cities as Alkmaar, Enkhuizen and Hoorn. And from the dunes of Schoorl to cute villages as Zunderdorp.
The Netherlands is known to be one of the most densely populated countries of the world and Noord- Holland is a very densely populated province. More than 2.7 million people live in this province, most in the area of Amsterdam.
However, as soon as you leave Amsterdam by public transport you’ll see a change. The more up North you are, the fewer houses catch your eye. You will notice that every now and then there is a bigger city or town. But besides that, there are many villages and endless views.
