The province of Utrecht, or Utrecht region, in The Netherlands is known to Dutch people as the smallest province in our country. However, that doesn’t mean this province isn’t worth a visit.
Utrecht, with its capital Utrecht, houses 1.2 million people. Which is quite a lot for such a small area. Yet, once you step out of big cities, such as Utrecht or Amersfoort you will instantly land into the countryside. You will see some of the most scenic places and cities of The Netherlands, including big lakes and small islands.
You can even rent a boat in this area of The Netherlands and sail through the most beautiful areas of the province of Utrecht. Or you can rent a canoe and enjoy some of the most beautiful Dutch rivers in The Netherlands.
Utrecht is small, but has everything you want a province to have. The Utrecht region is home to beautiful cities, incredible villages and the most extraordinary castles (even within cities). Not to forget that some of the most beautiful forests and nature reserves in The Netherlands are located in Utrecht, including a Dutch National Park. There are many destinations and places to visit in the Utrecht region, and I hope you will enjoy exploring them.
