Texel is part of the province of Noord-Holland, and the island inhabits around 13.000 people. It is the biggest Wadden Island of The Netherlands. Texel is a very old island as the first traces of hunters and gatherers date back to around 5000 BC. At around 1000 BC humans started to inhabit the island.
However, at the year of 250 the sea level started to rise and only by 6th century people were able to live on the island again. This all means that there is plenty of history around. And, as well as all the other islands, there are enough adventurous activities.
